Master the Link Building Basics

| in Link Building,SEO

Links leading back to your site, especially from respectable domains, will quickly built your SEO standings.  However, it can be difficult to get those links, seeing as how you have little control over what others post… or do you?  Actually, there are several ways that you can entice others to link to your content.  In fact, you can make it downright irresistible.

Help Others Build Content Before jumping on the ‘let’s get others to do it for us wagon’, remember that there are ways to create your own valuable links.  Guest blogging, for instance, is a great way to get links back to your pages, while providing a useful service to someone else.  If you are passionate about what you do, then it shouldn’t be difficult to produce meaningful content on the subject, which you can then offer up to others with the links already coded in. Do keep in mind, keywords still count!

Another Way to Provide Your Own Links Internal linking is entirely worthwhile, especially when done correctly.  Create worthwhile content on blog and then link to your product catalog or simply link landing pages to more informational pages.  The links do add up.

Make the Most of Socially Active Staff Do you have employees who love their job and who are dedicated to the company?  Ask them to share their love publicly.  This is a great way to build up the number of links leading back to your website.

Shout it From the Rooftop Give positive reviews to the companies who have done work for you.  Companies can’t help but link to positive testimonials.

Reach Out to Past Associations College or fraternity alumni news, past employers who want to see you succeed, or non-profit organizations that you have assisted might be willing to give a link.

Don’t be Afraid to Ask If someone has already gone through the effort of praising your service or product, don’t be afraid to reach out to that person and request that he or she include a link with the testimonial.  Sometimes, the lack of a link is an oversight that is easily corrected and, worded correctly, your request can read as more of a thank you note.

Give Your Two Cents Rarely do bloggers hope that no one sees their most recent post.  While you are surfing the web at lunch and reading on topics of interest, take the time to comment.  While you’re at it, throw in a well-placed link.

Building up links isn’t as difficult as some believe it to be.  Get busy spreading the word and before long your SEO standing will be skyrocketing.
